About Our Founder

John Minnix is the Founder and CEO of Brightlio. John has been providing customers with technology solutions coupled with outstanding customer support for 20 years.

Prior to founding Brightlio, John founded VPLS Solutions, a value-added IT reseller, managed service provider, and professional services consultancy.  John bootstrapped VPLS Solutions from a start-up to one of Southern California's premier technology partners.  VPLS Solutions earned numerous industry awards including CRN's Top 500 Solutions Providers, CRN's Fast Growth Award, and Orange County Business Journal's "Best Places to Work".  VPLS Solutions was acquired by Evocative in 2019.

John spearheaded growth for Evocative for three years in roles as VP of Sales & Marketing, and President & Chief Operating Officer.  He led Evocative's global sales, marketing, engineering, and operations teams including 100 U.S. and 30 international employees.  Under his leadership, the company exceeded revenue targets, increased margins, and decreased churn.  It also executed on the acquistion of a Managed Service Provider, and several data center colocation facilities, bolstered by $60 million in venture capital.

John has also held positions at Nortel Networks, Foundry Networks, and Brocade Communications. He is fluent in technologies including unified communications, colocation, cloud, network connectivity, network security, and more.  John is also a proven business-builder and developer of managed services practices.

John holds a B.A. in History from Emory University and an MBA with a Marketing focus from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
